SUMMARY
The Accountant plays a key role in supporting financial accuracy and business decision-making by analyzing, reconciling, and maintaining financial data. This position is responsible for general ledger activities, financial reporting, and audit support, while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The role may also include supervising a small team and providing guidance on day-to-day financial operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconcile assigned accounts and maintain accurate, complete records on a periodic and fiscal year-end basis
- Perform detailed general ledger analyses across balance sheet and income statement accounts, identifying and explaining variances (year-over-year and vs. budget)
- Support the development of annual budgets and profit plans for designated areas
- Prepare audit schedules and assist external auditors during year-end audits, including maintaining and updating internal control documentation
- Independently resolve routine issues; escalate complex matters as needed
- Provide direction and oversight to assigned staff to ensure timely completion of daily, period-end, and year-end activities
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent certification) required
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to financial reporting and analysis
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
