SUMMARY
The Sales & Promotions Analyst will assist the Director of Sales & Promotional Planning and broader team with planning, execution, analysis, & optimization of the various customer facing promotional strategies utilized across the retail chain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the selection process of item & price promotions featured in the weekly ad through the use of various planning tools & predetermined themes or overlays.
• Provide insights & guidance to Merchandising Category Business Management team to ensure competitive pricing, category clustering, & household metrics are being met prior to ad being finalized.
• Review weekly ad financials on a continuous basis during the planning process for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to appropriate Merchandising teams.
• Identify inside ad features with opportunities for improvement of overall ad margin & provide recommendations to appropriate Merchandising teams on an ongoing basis.
• Deliver weekly recap of prior week’s promotional performance to Merchandising & Marketing VP’s, Directors, Category Business Managers, and other members of sales team.
• Assist in the preparation for Quarterly & Period Planning meetings by supplying seasonally relevant item, theme, and syndicated data insights for each week of the planning period.
• Transform analytical insights on past promotion performance into data-driven recommendations for items and/or pricing in upcoming long-term & short-term price reduction programs.
• Effectively utilize current tools to provide guidance on promotional programs to the appropriate parties while driving the development of new tools that will deliver additional insights & value.
• Serve as the subject matter expert regarding the promotional forecasting & optimization tool utilized by the team; assist in training of new users, system troubleshooting, education on interpretation of outputs, & ensure accuracy of data inputs from the merchandising team.
• Assist the Marketing Strategy team with forecasting various marketing promotions, providing on-going performance tracking and post-promotion analysis
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Satisfactory performance reviews.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex analytical insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Exceptional mathematical & analytical skills with the ability to design & complete data analysis projects.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information both verbally & in writing.
- Solid time management & multi-tasking skills with the ability to self-manage, self-start, and prioritize shifting needs.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, & COGNOS, Microstrategy, or equivalent data visualization tools
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, marketing, mathematics, statistics, or another related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in marketing, merchandising, sales planning, pricing, operations, or analytics. Retail or CPG industry is a plus & preferred.
