SUMMARY

The Liquor Store Team Leader is responsible for the full oversight and leadership of a stand-alone liquor store operation. This includes all day-to-day functions such as customer service, inventory management, regulatory compliance, merchandising, and team leadership. The Liquor Store Team Leader brings deep knowledge of wine, and spirits, and a passion for engaging with customers and developing a service-focused team. This role ensures the store meets financial targets, adheres to all local and state regulations, and delivers an exceptional shopping experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all daily operations of a stand-alone liquor store, ensuring compliance with company policies and state liquor laws.
  • Lead, coach, and develop store team members to deliver excellent customer service and uphold product knowledge standards.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels and schedules to support business needs while managing labor costs.
  • Create engaging displays and ensure all products are merchandised according to company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels through accurate ordering, receiving, and stock rotation; perform regular cycle counts.
  • Monitor and manage store expenses, sales trends, and shrink; implement strategies to meet or exceed financial goals.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation within the store at all times.
  • Engage with customers to provide recommendations, tastings (as permitted), and assistance in selecting wine, and spirits to suit their preferences.
  • Complete all required reporting and recordkeeping related to inventory, compliance, financials, and staffing.
  • Enforce age-restricted sales laws and ensure team adherence to all state and federal liquor regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory retail experience required; experience in wine/beer/liquor sales strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with New York State liquor laws and enforcement practices.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
