SUMMARY

Provides fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper customers. Manages the day-to-day operation of the meat department inclusive of fresh meat case, deli, frozen case and custom cut department (where applicable) to include achieving budgeted financial results, ordering product/merchandise, human resource/training, and inventory control measures. Ensures that all corporate policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. Maintains excellent customer relations (both internally and externally) within the meat department on an on-going basis by offering friendly service and a courteous attitude. Satisfies the customer by offering a fresh high quality product at all times to promote optimal opportunity for sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Meat Department Duties and Responsibilities

  • Does not supervise associates on a regular basis.
  • Consistently provide fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service at all times.
  • Smile, make eye contact, and thank customers upon fulfilling their requests.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized workstation at all times, following 5S standards.
  • Handle and merchandise all meat products according to company policy.
  • Display and express complete product knowledge to customers.
  • Achieve all budgeted financial figures for the Meat Department as outlined in the store profit plan, including:
    • CTO budgeted sales
    • Gross profit
    • Shrink
    • Inventory levels
    • Wrap
    • Payroll
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Meat Department, including:
    • Scheduling
    • Training
    • Administrative duties
  • Order meat products and maintain inventory control methods.
  • Cut meat using knives, saws, cubers, slicers, and grinders.
  • Maintain corporate safety standards throughout the department.
  • Oversee Meat Department associates and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Train meat associates in accordance with corporate and state policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all corporate assets within the Meat Department.
  • Adhere to sanitation and temperature guidelines, including corporate, state, and federal inspection standards.
  • Maintain grind logs and meat logs per store policy.
  • Manage the store as needed at the discretion of the Store Manager.
  • Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow-through to achieve desired results and objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Satisfactory performance reviews. Strong communication skills. Basic computer skills. High School Degree or equivalent. 3+ years of related experience.
