Pay Rate Starting at: Level $29.75 per hr. Rates of pay are determined by labor contract seniority.

SUMMARY

 The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money.   A Maintenance Mechanic Class III repairs and maintains electric and propane forklifts and as well as building equipment. Forklift repairs and maintenance consists of industrial lift trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and or cherry pickers. Building equipment repairs and maintenance consists of dock doors, dock plate, electrical, pallet racking, heating / air conditioning / ventilation equipment. You will follow manuals and use hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake and other mechanical systems. Essential duties following; other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting in the safe operation, repair, upkeep and daily monitoring of all building related infrastructures (roofs, structural building components, site components, sanitary, storm water systems, electrical systems, office and warehouse HVAC systems, etc.)
  • Assisting in repairs, regular maintenance and upkeep of dock doors, dock plate, electrical and propane forklifts, pallet jacks, hi-low lifts, scissor lifts, scrubbers/sweepers, and battery changing / charging stations. 
  • Basic knowledge of building systems including but not limited to wet/dry sprinkler systems, pre-action sprinkler systems, compressed air systems, balers, and trash compactors.
  • Assisting other Class I, Class II, and Class III maintenance associates.    
  • Other duties as assigned.    

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Ability to work weekends varying shifts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • High school diploma; GED recommended but not required
  • Electrical and/or plumbing license, HVAC certification/schooling, Building Code knowledge, and Welding certification preferred.
  • You must own your own tools to ¾ inch. 
  • Must pass written and practical exam.
  • Other OSHA, Good Manufacturing Processes, PSM, RMP.
  • 6-12 months of warehouse experience recommended but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Ride on Pallet Jack
  • Heavy Equipment “ as dictated by position and location
